Carbon 13 Heparin
N-desulphated, re-N-acetylated heparin using 13C acetic anhydride providing 13C label on the CH3 groups (degreee of N-desulphation ca. 85% and near quantitative re-N-acetylation).
This product has potential applications in NMR where increased sensitivity detection (ca. 85-fold) of heparin-protein complexes is desired and in FTIR or mass spectrometry, in which the increased mass of the labelled saccharide provides a means of identification and differentiation from unlabelled heparin.
